Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a wicked disease that once contracted, there is no cure to reverse the symptoms. It was named Lou Gehrig’s disease after he contracted it while he was playing professional baseball with the New York Yankees. He was the first well known person to come down with the it and that is why it’s named ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease.

According to the ALS Foundation of Michigan it is estimated that there are between 800 - 1,000 people with ALS (pALS) and 200 who are newly diagnosed on an annual basis in the State. It may be hereditary in families and, Michigan has one of the highest rates of cases in the USA.  Medical professionals sometimes will perform procedures and totally miss the symptoms of ALS.

Website:  www.alsofmichigan.org/about-als/

Walter was diagnosed in 2018 and by September 2019, Walter showed a small limp when he was walking. He was able to drive cross country from New Mexico to Detroit for dad’s cremation ceremony.  By April of 2022 he was 100% disabled and unable to use any of his limbs. The trauma from ALS of being able to think clearly while your body deteriorates around you is very depressing. One of the treatments for the symptoms of ALS is Medical Marijuana. In Michigan and New Mexico Marijuana is accepted form of treatment for the pain.

Walter was a strong opponent of Marijuana in the beginning. Walter was very athletic since he was child. He learned how to swim at Johnson Recreation Center in Detroit Michigan. He was a true athlete from the neighborhood that ran track and swam for Mumford High School. His specialty race was the one mile run and he often was a part of relay teams that won many medals.  After attending Ferris State University on a track scholarship, Walter returned to Detroit joined the Detroit Police Department and worked there for 35 years.  In the interim he worked for the Michigan Department of Corrections for two years. He was the first African American to be a member of the Harbormaster unit working in the Detroit River recovering bodies and managing boat traffic during events like the fireworks and air races on the riverfront. As a member of the Special Response Team, he was often called on to deal with situations that required a tactical solution.

After Walter retired from DPD, he moved to New Mexico and rode his motorcycle all the United States of America. He also taught college level classes to students all over the world. When the symptom’s started to get worse, Walter was reluctant to use Marijuana as a medicine.   When he tried it, he was very impressed with it because it treated his pain effectively. It allowed him to sleep and feel better the next day.

Towards the end of his life, he radically changed his view about Marijuana and became one of my biggest supporters. Walter supported decriminalization of Marijuana and expungements of existing convictions for “the crime of cannabis”. He would often tell others that he was wrong about his brother Richard’s cause to Free the Weed for the jobs we need. He hoped that I would open a marijuana business for profit, I explained to him that I was doing it because it was the right thing to do. I was so happy that I took him to Detroit Tiger baseball games and missed taking him to a Detroit Lions game where he worked the sidelines providing security.

Walter Robert Clement died on his mother’s birthday of September 19th in his sleep. When I touched Walter’s body, he was so cold but, I knew all the hearts he warmed up with his wit, knowledge, and sense of caring for others. He truly will be missed by all his friends and colleagues. His wife Saundra Eddie is a real superhero and deserves blessing for staying with him while others would have run away.

Fathers Day and Weed: My Juneteenth Freedom Plea to #FreeDannyTrevino #FreeBritneyGriner & All Prisoners of Pot

By the Weed Warrior.

On this day Fathers Day and Juneteenth, Britany Griner and Danny Trevino are being held as political pot prisoners by governmental policy. On Wednesday January 29th, 2020, US District Court Judge Paul Maloney sentenced Mr. Trevino to 15 years and 8 months of incarceration in the Federal Bureau of Prisons system. In detail his sentence is 188 months for conspiring to manufacture and distribute 100 kilograms of marijuana, maintaining a drug involved premises (5 counts) and, manufacture of 100 marijuana plants or more. Mr. Trevino received an additional 60 months for two counts of manufacturing marijuana and one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, along with a $10,000 fine and 4 years of supervised release. Mr. Trevino was the CEO of Hydroworld LLC that had locations in Lansing, Grand Rapids and Jackson Michigan.

Danny's daughter waves good bye to Daddy..... 2019

US District Court Judge Maloney decision was based on the racist polices of  Harry Ainslinger the former Commissioner of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics in 1939 declaring Marijuana as a dangerous drug. While he was in charge of things, many people, especially people of color  were arrested and their property seized for being in possession of a marijuana leaf.

Judge Maloney violated Mr. Trevino's 4th amendments right regarding unreasonable search and seizure and, his 10th amendment right regarding the reservation of states rights. By Judge Maloney declaring that federal law supersedes state law when it comes to Marijuana policy, Mr. Trevino's rights under the Bill of Rights were trampled.

On July 30th, 2021 the US Appeals Court upheld the decision and to this day Mr. Trevino is currently residing at the Federal Bureau of Prisons facility in Elkton OH, a minimum security prison. He cannot have any visitors in person because the entire facility is quarantined from public visits because of Covid-19.  He is currently has appealed to the US Supreme Court and, grass roots activists are asking President Joe Biden to grant Mr. Trevino a presidential pardon to expunge his record.

This is no better example of international injustice than WNBA Basketball Player Brittney Griner, who is currently in prison in Russia for having a Cannabis laced vape pen in her possession at a port of entry.

Brittney Griner - Pot Prisoner

Ms. Griner is a victim of international treaties describing marijuana as a dangerous drug. Lately, the United Nations Office of National Drug Control has softened their policy towards cannabis. On Wednesday, December 2, 2020 the United Nations voted to remove cannabis and cannabis rosin from Schedule IV to Schedule one relaxing restrictions on cannabis. The only countries that objected to the UN's decision were Russia and China. One of the ways to fix this is to rewrite the treaties at the next meeting of the General Council of the United Nations. This action would force Marijuana policy reform of hardliners like Vladimir Putin and politicians in State of Texas that wants to turn back the hands of time.

Website: Experts say that Brittney Griner's hearing will 'never happen'

The bottom line is that both of these people need to be released from prison immediately!  This agreement must include expungements and pardons for all Federal Bureau of Prison facilities and, revised international policies at ports of entry recognizing Marijuana as a medicine. Therefore please vote in every election for candidates at the local, state, and federal levels that will support cannabis policy reform starting from now until November.

Happy Fathers day to all the dad's!

Happy Juneteenth! Vote!

House Bill 5512 Must Never Become Law in the State of Michigan! Tell your Senators and Governor to Vote NO on 5512

 By Weed Warrior

House Bill 5512 must never ever become a law in the State of Michigan.  If this bill were to become a law, it would allow a judge to over-ride a decision of a Medical Doctor allowing a person to use Medical Marijuana as a treatment for their condition in Michigan Drug Courts. Defendants would be forced to return to using opioids as an alternative treatment that may lead to complications up to and including death. This bill will affect military veterans in the Veterans Drug Treatment Courts that are trying to kick their Opioid addictions. This bill was fast tracked based on deliberate mis-information from the Michigan Association of Treatment Court Professionals (MATCP) who stated the following:

  1. Michigan's treatment courts would lose federal funding by allowing defendants to use Marijuana as their medicine.
  2. Public safety was at risk because of defendants being able to drive as a Medical Marijuana patient even though studies have shown that this is not true.
  3. The black sheep theory of if someone is using Medical Marijuana then their use of medicine will "corrupt" other defendants in the program
  4. MATCP propaganda stating that the law only affects a small number of patients and the change would have a minimal impact upon the Michigan Medical Marijuana Program.

It is not the small number of patients affected that is the problem, it is the gall of the MATCP.  Changing a citizen initiated law in this manner goes against the integrity of the law and, is a slap in the face to the voters in Michigan. 2 million people voted for one thing and 84 House of Representatives told them to go to hell.

House Bill 5512 - State of Michigan (*.PDF Document)

One patient affected is one too many, especially when this legislation was devised by deliberate mis-information from this organization. Furthermore the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration  (SAMSHA) issued a clarification memo on January 1st, 2020 to clarify the agency's position regarding Medical Marijuana use and federal funding. In a nutshell, they stated that a person can use Marijuana as a medicine as long as they defendant is advised that there are other drugs that they can take.

Article: Feds issue a clarification memo on 'Confusing' addiction funding rules for Drug Treatment Courts - August 2021

Senator Adam Hollier District 2

Furthermore SAMSHA stated that medical marijuana patients can in fact attend drug court even when it is federally funded.

This bill passed out of the Michigan House of Representatives by an 84 to 17 margin. This was more that the 3/4 majority of 110 representatives needed to advance this bill to the Michigan Senate. With the help of Democrats, including members of the Michigan Legislative Cannabis Caucus, did not take the time to read the SAMSHA memo of January 2020 voted YES against their constituents. They should be remembered at the ballot box in the August 2022 Primary and, November General Election of 2022 with a NO vote.

Now is the time to contact every Senator in Michigan at www.senate.michigan.gov and let them know to vote NO on House Bill 5512. Some of these legislators are running for higher office at State and Federal levels. Some are looking to be returned to Lansing in 2023 as Senators and Representatives. You must contact them through email, voicemail messages and, personal appointments to let your feelings be heard or, they will not get your vote this time.

Starting with Senator Mike Shirkey @ www.senatormikeshirkey.com, please take the time to state your objection to HB 5512 and, don't forget to contact the Office of the Governor and let them know to veto this bill. Additionally please contact the members of the Senate Regulatory Reform Committee. One of the members of the committee was former Secretary of State Ruth Johnson who refused to place the driver's license picture on the Medical Marijuana card for selfish reasons and, now is threatening to harm the MMMA again with this piece of damaged legislation.

Therefore, send your objections to the House Bill 5512 in an email or, call and leave a message on their voicemail NOW, because time is of the essence. The same Representatives and Senators are planning to support the anti-caregiver bills 5300, 5301, and 5301 that will take patients plants and, give them to corporate interests who's only concern is profit, profit, profit. If this action succeeds, the legislature will be successful screwing the caregivers who fought and died to make medicine available to patients in need.

If you are sending an email, please place HOUSE BILL 5512 - Opposed (organization name / or individual) in the subject line of the message. Then state your reasons for your objection for the record.
