Voter Suppression By Highland Park MI City Clerk and USMCA/NAFTA Oversight on Marijuana Must Be Addressed ASAP!

By Weed Warrior

An error in the total number of registered voters by the City of Highland Park MI City Clerk will deprive the voters of the opportunity to opt into State of Michigan Marijuana Licensing laws. Organizers were led to believe that there were 8523 registered voters before being cross-checked with the Secretary of State number which was 6500.  In Highland Park you need 10% of all registered voters in the City so you only needed 650 versus 853. During the effort in the last two weeks of July 2018, over 9000+ signatures were collected and turned into the City Clerk. Over 700 signatures were disqualified by the Clerks office on September 23 so that it would not appear on the ballot.

Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Robert Colombo 3rd Circuit

The next move by interested parties is to file an immediate motion in the 3rd Circuit of the Wayne County Court to require the Clerks office to print a supplemental ballot with one question on it. People who have already voted will get a ballot mailed to them and, on election day voters will have an extra ballot printed with the single question on it.

Judge Robert Colombo appears to be a good judge to file this motion with because he seems to have the fortitude to get it done. All voters who have already voted absentee, will get a ballot mailed to them. Citizens in Highland Park will have the opportunity to vote up or down on the ballot question per Initiative petition.

In other news the new USMCA/NAFTA agreement did not include any provisions for marijuana reform despite demands from Mexico that Marijuana legalization be included. This would effectively expunge all marijuana crimes against ports of entry between the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Marijuana users will no longer be detained at the Detroit Windsor Tunnel or the Ambassador Bridge for possessing, using, and manufacturing Marijuana.  The Duty Free shop will be a new experience for Detroit and Windsor residents.

On January of 2019, the use of recreational Marijuana will be legal in Mexico. Since Canada is going recreational on October 17th  2018,  the US Congress must make modifications to this oversight in the provision before being approved. Therefore, you must vote to elect US representatives that will get the job done, especially in Detroit Michigan where Canada is a swimmer’s length away.

Voter suppression comes in many forms and, this is one of them that can be corrected in Highland Park MI as soon as October 9th, 2018, the last day for Voter registration. As far as USMCA/NAFTA goes marijuana reform must be included at all levels of government starting at the United Nations, and every elected political job from the President all the way down to City Council-members and precinct delegate levels.

Therefore  Do not forget to show up and vote YES on proposals 1, 2, and 3 from now until November 6th, 2018 at 8pm.
