Corporate Greed and Weed? - Take The Pledge to Keep Corporate Raiders Out of Michigan #NoChanges

An Urgent Call to Action!

Stop the Corporate Raiders from taking the Marijuana Industry for personal gain at the expense of the people of the State of Michigan.

On September 14th, Corporate interests introduced legislation in the State of Michigan to seize control of the Marijuana industry in Michigan. The Michigan Cannabis Manufacturers Association (MCMA) led by lobbyist Steven Linder have convinced a few legislators to sponsor House Bills 5300, 5301 and 5302 that would drastically overhaul Michigan Marijuana laws that the voters overwhelming approved in 2008 and 2018. This legislation will reduce the 12 plants currently allowed for an individual patent, the 5 patients for a caregiver, down to one plant and one patient.

It also INCREASES the power of law enforcement to conduct raids on property and destroy homes just like the good old days. This legislation is extremely damaging to people of color because of the interests of the people sponsoring this effort and, the perils of the judicial system.

There will be an urgent 90 minute hearing on these bills on October 5th, 2021 in Lansing Michigan. Speaking time is very limited and your best outcome would be contacting the representative's office by email, hand written letter, calling and, scheduling a meeting with any of the 110 State Representatives. Please do not stop after October 5th because, in order to make these bills into a law, there will be other meetings needed.  If the bills are not withdrawn, the committee will vote yes or now to send it to the 110 representatives to vote on them. These bills are being fast tracked for implementation by March 22, 2022 with immediate effect regardless of what the people say. The only urgency for these bills for getting a quick hearing is that some of the legislators have been bought off by MCMA lobbyists.

NOW is the time to contact your elected officials. Every Tuesday at 10:30, the committee on regulatory reform meets to discuss legislation that was introduced by a group of representatives. We the cannabis community want these bills to be withdrawn immediately!

You must communicate with a representative NOW to demand that these bills be killed in committee.  Do not let this legislation come out of the  regulatory reform committee for a vote.

The consequences for any legislator supporting this corporate takeover is not being re-elected in 2022 or, recalled upon petitioning by their constituents. With redistricting required by Jan 1st, 2022, a majority of these legislators will not be in the same neighborhoods. Therefore, if you posses a valid government ID like a Michigan Medical Marijuana Card, you are allowed to vote in any election.

The same people who wanted to throw out votes in the 2020 election are sponsoring this Emergency Management style plan 3.0 on Michigan's Marijuana Program. The same people that since the implementation of Michigan's medical marijuana program supported breaking the law for selfish reasons regarding a photo on the Michigan Medical Marijuana card.

Therefore, take up to 30 minutes of your day and contact a State Representative, State Senator and, Governor Gretchen Whitmer to veto these bills in advance! If you are a constituent of the sponsors of this corporate takeover please contact them and tell and say #NoChanges and withdraw the bill or pocket veto them.
